A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All progressive Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state, Tare Ebegha, has called on members of the party, to rally round President Muhammadu Buhari, by providing the necessary support to ensure that the nation defeats the security challenges in the country.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Mr Ebegha said Nigerians, especially members of the APC, cannot afford to stand aloof while the country faces security challenge.

Mr. Ebegha commended President Buhari for providing leadership to the nation in times of tumoil, by boosting the morale of security personnel and availing security agencies the needed resources to combat terrorism and insurgency.

The Bayelsa gubernatorial hopeful noted sadly that insecurity in the country has been politicized such that matter of serious concern as protection of lives and property is now viewed from the prism of political parties and not patriotism.

Speaking further, Mr. Ebegha drummed supports of APC members and patriotic Nigerians to join hands with the president to make Nigeria a safe, peaceful and united nation for all citizens.

He said: “Since assuming office in 2015, president Buhari has continued to make the issue of security a major priority of his administration. His commitment is visible and I know certainly that Mr. President will not relent on his efforts to secure Nigeria.

“But some people have decided to turn blind eyes to the great efforts of our president in the fight against insecurity. We the members of APC and of course patriotic Nigerians must stand by president Buhari and give him all the support he needs to safeguard our Nation.”

Mr. Ebegha, however, cautioned the opposition parties to desist from politicising insecurity in the country while calling on patriotic citizens and member of APC to support the president in tackling the menace.

“Irrespective of which party you belong, we must secure our nation before we talk about politics and power. This is not an exclusive problem of APC or president Buhari, we must unite as a political party and nation to fight the monsters,” he said.

The Bayelsa gubernatorial hopeful expressed optimism that if all hands be on deck, the president will bequeath to Nigerians a legacy of security, infrastructural development, economic prosperity and social cohesion.
