Team Nigeria wrapped up their performance with an additional gold and bronze medals at the International Open India Canoe Sprint Championships in India.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ayomide Bello won gold in the female C1 200m and a bronze in the female C2 200m to increase the country medals to four.

The country had earlier won two bronze medals in the C1 500m female and C2 double 500m female.

Bunmi Oluode, Secretary of the Nigeria Rowing, Sailing and Canoe Federation (NRSCF), applauded the athletes for their outstanding performance at the event.

Oluode who led the team to the championships told NAN from India that he attributed the athletes’ performance to adequate preparation.

“The federation is proud of the achievement of the athletes in India and we hope they will do more in other international engagement.

“This feat would not be possible without the generous input of the federation president and our sponsors,” she said.

NAN reports that Ayomide Bello, Blessing Amusar, Goodluck Gbamire and Richard Pere-Permotei represented the country in the championships. (NAN)
