Manchester City boy, Kelechi Iheanacho was the one Gernot Rohr has to thank for not suffering what would have been his first defeat since taking over the Eagles.
Iheanacho was on target for the Eagles in the 84th minute after the Teranga Lions had taken a 55th minute lead courtesy of Moussa Sow’s effort.
The encounter was one in which Eagles stand in captain, Ogenyi Onazi was injured in the 25th minute. He was replaced by John Ogu. Onazi’s injury was however not a bad one as he watched the rest of the game from the stand.
The Eagles will on Monday face AFCON 2017 bronze medalist, Burkina Faso in another friendly at the same Hive Stadium.
Yesterday’s game played under a chilly weather was watched by a scanty crowd of 2010 fans.
Eagles manager, Rohr after the match described the outcome as good even as he gave Senegal thumbs up for giving his side a good fight.
He added that the game against Burkina Faso would be another opportunity to further continue the build up for the AFCON and World Cup qualifiers later in the year.
