The Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Plateau State, George Ndu, on Wednesday, protested alleged plan by Governor Simon Lalong to reconstitute another Management Committees for the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.

He described the attempt by Lalong to reconstitute chairmen for the committees after dissolving elected Local Government Chairmen in 2016 as ‘unconstitutional, fraudulent and totally unacceptable by opposition parties and Plateau people.’

Prince Ndu in a press statement issued, in Jos, after an extra ordinary meeting, asked Governor Lalong to direct Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIE) to conduct Local Government Elections in the state without any delay.

“We frowned at the idea in which State Government has deliberately refused to set machineries in motion for the conduct of Local Government Elections in the State but it is using the avenue to compensate its political loyalists against the interest of the state.

“The APC Government last week sacked Management Committee Chairmen in the state and the Governor is planning to replace those transition committee with another set of political cronies against Nigerian Constitution and the Supreme Court Judgement that stops Governors from dissolving elected LGA Chairmen and replacing them with transition committee chairmen.”

Ndu blamed Lalong for dissolving elected Local Government Chairmen on assumption of office in 2015 and constituted an illegal Management Committee Chairmen which lasted for two years doing nothing but drumming support to him  at will.

He advised the Governor to gauge the feelings of the masses before taking such action or he will lose legitimacy through the unpopular decision that amount to counter productive to the peaceful co-existence the state is currently enjoying.
