A member of the House of the Representatives, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, has blamed the agitation by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on the marginalisation of the South East people by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to him, “The body language of APC tends to suggest that there is first class, second class and third class citizenry in Nigeria. To me,  that has been the main reason fueling this agitation”.

Adebutu said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government, in the last  16 years, created an enabling environment and equal opportunity for Nigerians to thrive, maintaining that the APC should be liable for the current woes being experienced by some sections of Nigeria.

He stated this, on Monday, while fielding questions from newsmen at the interactive session with the youth, organised by the Ijebu News Extra Magazine, held at Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

The theme of the event was “Ogun Youth: Today and Their Future in Political Development”.

Adebutu, who represents Remo Federal Constituency at Lower Chamber of the National Assembly, said although IPOB had genuine reasons to agitate, the situation must be handled with caution in order not to throw the country into turmoil.

The lawmaker, however, said similar situations of uncaring nature of the APC government had been witnessed in states the party is at the helm saying “it has now become imperative that people of Nigeria should take cognizance of people they elect into offices”.

He added: “We have the similar situation in Ogun State where the government has been uncaring. We have seen wanton destruction of properties.

“If you must do demolition for the purpose of development, it is imperatives that you provide succour and do it with human face.

“When the road going from Sagamu to Abeokuta was expanded, the last government in Ogun State, deliberately built houses so that those  who would be affected would be relocated”.
