Olori Wuraola, estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi II, confirmed, yesterday, that her marriage to the monarch has crashed.

The Olori has since reverted to her maiden name Zaynab Otiti Obanor.

She disclosed this via a statement on her official Instagram page @hhzynab, yesterday.

“…What I can confirm is that the Ooni and I are no more. I inhale love and exhale gratitude. No matter how much time you’ve invested, no matter the use of media to silence and manipulate, no matter the circumstance, slander, embarrassment, threats and lies: Get out and seek immediate help! My journey continues as a humanitarian aiding women and victims of domestic violence and abuse with the United Nations.”

The revelation confirmed recent reports that the Ooni’s marriage to the Benin-born queen was going through a rought patch.

Oba Ogunwusi got married to Zaynab at an elaborate society traditional marriage in Benin, capital of Edo State, on March 16, 2016.

Although the monarch was not physically present, he was represented by his father, Prince Oluropo Ogunwusi.

On Instagram, @temilolatemmy said: “I don’t understand  what this world is turning to… why would a whole king of a kingdom get a divorce? Didn’t he ask the oracle if she (was) the right person for him? Instead of divorcing her, why didn’t he look for another wife and that one is misbehaving, he can marry another one and definitely, he would have found love with one, instead of disrespecting himself and the throne.”

To@employmeng, “until you hear from both sides, you have no reality to come to conclusion when marriages fail. Both parties should be blamed because we never knew what transpired.”

In reaction, Director of Media and Publicity, Ooni’s palace, Moses Olafare, said in the current era of social media where people have free access to the internet as constitutionally permitted by the laws of the land, people can say anything.

“In spite of everything being said on the issue, decorum still requires that we, in the House of Oduduwa, would maintain silence, at least for now. This is because, marriage is strictly a private matter that should not be subjected to undue public uproar.  Whenever it is necessary for us to talk, we will surely talk on the issue.” he added.
