Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has reiterated that he has no plans to leave the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Obiano was reacting to speculations in the social and traditional media that he may be on the way out of APGA for another political party.

Speaking through his Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, Ogbuefi Tony Nnachetta, Obiano said as the leader and chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of APGA, he is at present focused to make APGA a truly national party by building on the gains of the party not only in Anambra State but across the country since he assumed that position.

Obiano insisted he “has not, and was not, considering leaving APGA.

“In addition to building and lifting up APGA, he is concentrating on his mandate as governor of Anambra State and focusing on the best ways to enable the state overcome challenges of the national economic downturn.”

The governor pointed out that apart from social and traditional media reports, he has continued to receive calls from well- meaning “Ndi Anambra and other stakeholders wanting to confirm the veracity of the rumour.”

Governor Obiano appealed to APGA faithful across the country and in the Diaspora to “disregard such rumours as APGA is poised, not only to retain its hold on Anambra, but also, expand the gains and inroads it has been making in other states in and outside the South East.”

Meanwhile, former president of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) Enugu/Anambra/Ebonyi Branch and governorship aspirant in the last Anambra State Governorship election under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr. Chike Obidigbo has said he dumped the party  because “the vision of the founding fathers of the party had been misrepresented and rubbished.”

On why he joined the APC, Obidigbo said: “It is not always wise to stay on the fringe because the nation’s democratic system was such that one needed to be there when issues were being discussed for you to be properly accommodated.”
