As part of her efforts to touch lives, Uche Elendu who marked her birthday a few days ago, went to Lagos slums to feed the less privileged kids.
The actress told Inside Nollywood that her philanthropic act was borne out of her scary dreams which often come to pass.
“I took this step because of the dreams I had. I rarely remember my dreams but anytime I do, it is a message and if it’s a bad one and not acted upon, it comes to pass.”
She continued: “On my second daughter’s birthday eve, I had a dream, and in that dream, I was looking everywhere for her. Then I saw her on the television with helpless children playing with and giving them food and cake.
“In that dream, I ran to the kitchen only to find out that all the food we made for her birthday party were all gone. Then when she saw me, she said ‘mummy, I am having the best party of my life’. I woke up, but I couldn’t do anything because I wasn’t financially capable then, so I decided to register a Foundation for her, and to the best of my financial ability, reach out to the needy in every way I can in her name so she can grow up with it since that is God’s message for her. I took that step to feed the hungry for my daughter, under her NGO.”
The mother of two also hinted that sometimes her dreams scare her and if it’s been swept under the carpet, it would become a disastrous reality.
“I get scared when I see something bad in my dreams, but once I pray about it, I know it’s settled, so I try not to forget. If it’s so bad, I make sure I pray fervently and avoid the circumstances that surround the occurence.
“I once had an ugly unforgetable experience, but it’s a family thing and my parents won’t be happy if I share it on the pages of newspaper. It’s ever fresh in my memory.”
Although, a bit scarce in the movies, Elendu, who is happily married to Walter Ogochukwu Igweanyiba, is presently on location in Niger State.
“I have a two-year-old daughter, but I still do movies, maybe not as regular as I used to. Acting is still my job and when I see a good script I jump at it.”
