From Stanley Uzoaru, Owerri

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Chairman, Council of Elders, Ohanaeze Ndigbo is presently boiling over the herdsmen killings in Enugu communities and some parts of Ebonyi State, warning that people of the south east will no longer tolerate any further attack.

Addressing newsmen on Thursday in Owerri, the elder statesman noted that an attack at one Igbo citizen is an attack to all, describing the attacks as hostility to Ndigbo.

“The Ohanaeze Council of Elders view this situation as a declaration of hostility against the Igbos. Make no mistake about it ,any attack on an Igbo man anywhere is an attack on all Igbos.

” I therefore wish on behalf of Ohanaeze Council of Elders to express our deep sympathy to all Igbos who have suffered loss of lives and property by this invasion by enemies armed with dangerous weapons including AK47.

“No Igbo man should be killed unjustly, if they erred, they should be tried ,Council of Elders have requested me to review the situation ,we have not stopped anybody from coming to our land, why are they being killed, we are not going to fold our hands to see innocent blood of our people being shed.

” So we have asked the south east governors to intervene to see how to end the killings ,so we have asked for an emergency meeting of business, political, traditional and religious leaders to be summoned, we also appeal to the federal government to take steps to stop this unwarranted violation of rights of our people” . Iwuanyanwu said.
