The Jigawa State Environmental Protection Agency (JISEPA) has embarked on a one-week environmental clean-up in health facilities in two local government areas of the state.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the agency, Malam Zubairu Sulaiman, announced this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)in Dutse.
Sulaiman said the exercise, which began on Monday, was being conducted across all health facilities in Kazaure and Ringim Emirate Councils of the state.
He explained that the exercise involved waste clearance, evacuation and disposal, as well as grass cutting.
The PRO said the exercise was part of the agency’s proactive measures to promote effective waste management and sanitation in the state.
According to him, the gesture is also to ensure that sanitation and hygiene were maintained in all health facilities across the state.
“This is to also ensure that such facilities did not pose threat to the hygiene and wellbeing of staff, patients and visitors,” Sulaiman added.
He, therefore, urged the managements and staff of the facilities to give the agency maximum cooperation for the successful conduct of the exercise. (NAN)
