Barely weeks after the general elections, one Mahdi Hassan, a staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has allegedly been abducted by unknown persons suspected to be kidnappers in Jigawa State.

The victim was said to have been kidnapped while on transit from Kazaure local government en route Dutse the state capital.

The Sun investigation revealed that though the victim was supposedly returning from a personal trip to visit his family, ‎he has not been seen since Friday, and according to an unconfirmed source, the kidnappers have already contacted the family of the victim and an u disclosed amount of money was allegedly paid to secure his release.

Mahdi is a pension desk officer at the INEC office in Dutse.

The Head Of Department, Voter Education and Publicity, Mr John Kaiwa, confirmed that the victim has been missing since Friday.

Commissioner of Police in the state Mr Bala Zama Senchi was bewildered that such a situation would occur without anyone reporting to the police.

He told journalists that he never received any report of the said kidnap, suggesting that if the incident was true, then the INEC should be faulted for not reporting it to the police.
