Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has revealed plans to collaborate with the Federal Government in creating good jobs for teaming youths in the state.

Governor Obaseki, who spoke at the weekend, when he visited the Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Dr. Nasiru Mohammed, said his plans to create over 200,000 jobs in the next four years was still on course. He said already, over 10,000 jobs had been created, while plans were underway to partner critical stakeholders, within and outside the state to attract investments, which would in turn, create jobs for his people.

Obaseki told the NDE boss that the collaboration of his agency was needed to provide skill acquisition training to Edo youths who had been selected to benefit from the planned employment scheme.

“Edo State is very unique. We are positioned in such a way that for you to go to any part of the country, you need to pass through the state. There are also critical Federal Government infrastructure located in many parts of the state.

“When I was campaigning, one of my cardinal promises was the creation of jobs. In fact, I promised to create 200,000 jobs in four years and I am going to do that.

“As I speak, we have already created over 10,000 jobs. That is part of the reasons I am here (in NDE office), to see how your agency can help us provide the requisite training.”
