Head coach of Nigeria’s Under-17 women’s national team, Bala Nikyu, has spoken about his team’s underwhelming display at the ongoing World Cup in Jordan.

Nikyu’s Flamingoes bowed out of the competition with a whimper as they lost twice and failed to score in three preliminary games against Brazil, England and Korea.

The Flamingoes trainer took the time to address the media after masterminding a disastrous campaign which he chose to describe as a “wonderful experience” for his young charges.

“In football you must have a winner and a loser and, in the spirit of the game, if you lose, you take it.

“Football is like that. In this same World Cup some teams have conceded five, six goals.

“If you conceded goals, you conceded goals. The Journey has been cut short for many teams.

“Many teams are leaving Jordan by Monday,” he said.  The 2017 Fifa U17 Women’s World Cup represents Nigeria’s worst since they first participated in the competition in 2008.
