As the deadline for the Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) registration by the Independent National Electoral (INEC) draws to a close, the Kaduna State Government has declared Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as public holidays to enable more citizens to complete their voter registration.
The state government appealed to residents of the state to register to vote before July 31, 2022.
The public holidays were declared amidst protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in solidarity with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
A statement issued by the Special Adviser to Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Media and Communication, Muyiwa Adekeye, urged all eligible residents of the state to seize the window to register to vote, and to therefore be in a position to exercise their right to vote.
The statement disclosed that the government requests all employers to actively support their staff to register before INEC closes voter registration on July 31, 2022.
