As Kaduna voters move to elect their chairmen and counsellors across the 23 local government areas of the state, voting is yet to commence in many of the units visited.
The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) had scheduled the exercise for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 12.
At Angwan Sarki polling unit, Runka code 024 where the state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai is expected to cast his vote, vote is yet to commence despite the early arrival of officials at 9:15 a.m.
The presiding officer for the polling unit, Ismail Danjuma, said the available authorised key did not match the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) meant for the polling unit.
At other places visited, which include Badarawa, Katsina and Angwan Dosa, KAD-SIECOM officials are yet to arrive, while others arrived without the voting machine.
However, Chairman, Advisory Council, Police Public Awareness Campaign Programme, Musa Zubair, who was among election observers seen at the polling unit described the delay as tooting crisis that would be overcome.
