Former Abia State governor, Dr. Orji Kalu, has described the late Chief Bob Ewulonu Ogbuagu as a Pan-African nationalist whose intellectual works will continue to speak volumes of his talents in all facets of life.

He expressed sadness over the passing of the Umuahia-born statesman, adding that he was a mentor to many Nigerians and non-Nigerians alike beyond the media industry.

According to Kalu, the late Ogbuagu made remarkable contributions to the socio-political development of Nigeria.

In his tribute signed by his Special Adviser, Kunle Oyewumi,  Kalu said: “The demise of Chief Bob Ogbuagu is a big blow to Africa. He was an erudite scholar, a social crusader and a talented public relations expert, who committed his intellectual resources to the propagation and advancement of the cause of a just and fair society.

“His exceptional works made him renowned beyond the shores of Nigeria. The late Chief Ogbuagu died at a time the country needed his counsel on national issues.

“However, we take solace in the fact that he left indelible footprints in the annals of Nigeria. His legacies will remain evergreen and celebrated.”

The former governor prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Kalu commiserated with the government and people of Abia State especially Alaike autonomous community in Ohuhu Clan of Umuahia North Local Government Area.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR, has described the late Ogbuagu as the doyen of Africa’s PR practitioners, an engaging speaker, great organiser and quintessential public relations expert. This was contained statement signed by Stella Sawyerr, Senior Assistant Registrar, NIPR.

Ogbuagu died on Monday, August 21, at the age of 92.
