The Kano State Director of the Department of State Security Services, DSS, Alhaji Abdullahi Chiranchi is dead.

He died at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano at exactly 10.15 am, Saturday morning, according sources close to the family of the deceased.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Yusuf Rabiu has since confirmed the demise of the security boss to media men in the state even as he prayed for the repose of his soul.

Security sources told Sunday Sun that the late Alhaji Chiranchi died on Saturday even though he was believed to be hale and hearty and was said not to have shown any indication that he was suffering from any illness before the incident.

The source added that he was in the office up to 10 00pm on Friday.

“He was not sick and had not complained to anybody of any ailment. He just told a few persons that he was not feeling normal this morning and would need to go the hospital. He went and what we heard was that he passed on at about 10.15 am” said one of his deputies.

It was gathered that the deceased security boss, who was a member of the Kano State Security Council, may have died of cardiac arrest.

Already, his remains has been conveyed to his home town, Chiranchi in  Katsina State , where he was buried  according to Muslim rite at about 5.00 pm on  Saturday.

Sunday Sun recalled the he assumed office as the State Director a few months after the 2015 general elections and according to  a security officer, had discharged his responsibility creditably well in that capacity

“Under his charge a number of high profile and extreme crimes were successfully brought under control in the state, said the source.

Aged 56, he left behind a wife and many children

Meanwhile, Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and a number of top government officials attended his burial in Katsina state.
