Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi 11, has tasked the new Assistant  Inspector General of Police, Zone 1, Kayode Aderanti to address the problems of Yandabas (area boys), drugs abuse and notorious activities of cattle rustlers in Falgore Forest of the state.
The monarch, who spoke yesterday while receiving the new police chief, described drug abuse, cattle rustling and Yandabas’ activities as as major crimes undermining peace and security in the state.
The monarch appreciated the excellent performance of the police in the state despite the problems of shortage of manpower and proper funding to carry out their assignments.
He said his doors were always open to the police, adding that there were several retired senior police officers in his council who had been serving as a vital link between the emirate  and the police.
“Kano Emirate Council has an excellent relationship with all the security agents serving here and appreciates the role the security agencies play in the maintenance of law and other in the state,” the royal father stated.
Mr. Kayode Aderanti,  who was formerly in Lagos as the Assistant Inspector General of Police, vowed to make the zone, comprising  Kano, Katsina and Jigawa State, one of the best zones in Nigeria.
He gave assurance that he would make the states under his command a crime free zone, even as he sought the cooperation of the council in his efforts to ensure that all tribes and religions in these states live in peace and harmony.
