Following last week’s flood that destroyed property worth millions of Naira across the state, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has ordered the immediate demolition of structures on waterways and drainages at the Kantin Kwari market.

Managing Director, Kano Road and Traffic Agency, Baffa Babba Dan Agundi disclosed this on Monday, saying the removal of the Illegal structures at Market is with immediate effect.

Baffa, who is the Chairman. Committee of Removal of Illegal Structures explained that the demolition exercise would affect both old and the recently constructed structures on waterways and drainages, saying the state cannot afford a repeat experience.

All marked structures are constructed in contravention of the existing laws and are either on drainage, waterways. Their location makes it difficult for fire servicing vehicles and refuse collection vehicles to have access into the market to render services.

He appealed to the affected traders to appreciate that the exercise is the besy interest of the state and its trading and economic prosperity..
