Commissioner of Police, Kano State, Mr Mamman Dauda, said the command arrested 40 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, rapists and cultists in their hideouts. He promised to give adequate protection to the electorate in the state as a way of ensuring free and fair general elections.

He said: “We have mapped out strategies on how to flush out criminals from the state. We succeeded in arresting 15 suspected armed robbers within Kano metropolis. We recovered some arms and ammunition such as AK47 rifles, magazines and cartridges from them.

“Police operatives also raided some forests along Kano-Kaduna Expressway. We  arrested 20 suspected hoodlums with sophisticated weapons, which they used to rob motorists. We laid ambush for the hoodlums and chased them out of their dens. We arrested some suspected thugs within Sabo, Kano.

“Heads of security agencies in the state will protect the people and will not take chances in protecting the electorate while exercising their franchise. All sister agencies are making comprehensive arrangements to ensure successful and peaceful election.

“Jointly with other security agencies, we are ready to protect INEC facilities, staff and election materials before, during and after the election. I have ordered my officers and all the tactical teams to be vigilant in their various divisions.”
