Commissioner of Police, Kano State, Mr Mamman Dauda, said the command arrested 40 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, rapists and cultists in their various hideouts. He promised to give adequate protection in ensuring free and fair elections in 2023.

He said: “We have mapped out strategies on how to flush out criminals from the state. We succeeded in arresting 15 suspected armed robbers within Kano metropolis. We recovered some arms and ammunition such as AK47 rifles, magazines and cartridges from them.

“Police operatives had raided forests along Kano-Kaduna Expressway. We arrested 20 suspected hoodlums with their sophisticated weapons. We laid ambush for them and chased them out of their dens. We arrested some suspected thugs in Sabo, Kano axis.

“Security agencies will not take chances in protecting the electorate while exercising their franchise. All sister agencies are making comprehensive arrangements to ensure successful elections.

“We will protect INEC facilities, their staff and election materials before, during and after the election. I have ordered my officers, all the tactical teams to be vigilant and ensure constant patrol.”
