Police in Katsina State have arrested a total of nine persons described as ‘serial rapists’, among whom is a 60-year-old man for the alleged rape and infection of his 14-year-old daughter with the dreaded HIV.

Speaking at a press briefing, the Katsina Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Gambo isah, said that the incident occurred at Kwadaja village of Mai’Adua Local Government Area of the State.

According to him, ‘Musa Haru, 60 years, had unlawful carnal knowledge of his daughter.

‘In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence.

‘They were taken to the Comprehensive Health Centre, Mai’Adua, for medical examination which shows that the suspect and the victim tested positive to HIV.’

The police also paraded various other persons over sundry crimes including a suspected Indian Hemp dealer.

According to the police: ‘On on November 13, 2020, a police patrol team attached to Dandume division, acting on a tip-off, succeeded in arresting one Isiya Lawal, aged 24 years of Makama road, Dandume, Dandume Local Government Area in possession of 195 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp.

‘In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence and mentioned one Muntari alias Dan Ruma, of Tudun Ali, Dandume, to be the supplier of the said Indian Hemp.’

In a similar development, the police said they also arrested an ex-convict who is notorious for stealing of motorcycles.

According to the PPRO, ‘on October 27, 2020, based on a tip-off, the police succeeded in arresting one Buhari Dalhatu, aged 25 years of Turaruka quarters, Katsina, a habitual criminal and an ex-convict with three records of conviction.

‘He was arrested on the premises of the General Hospital, Katsina, where he was identified by one of his victims, ‘as the thief who stole his motorcycle.

‘In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to have stolen the said motorcycle.’
