The member representing Daura Constituency in the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasir Yahaya, says he has spent N13 million to empower 550 youth in his constituency.

Yahaya made the disclosure in an interview, in Daura, on Wednesday.

He said that N7 million was disbursed to some of the beneficiaries as seed capital to engage in various productive ventures, while the rest went into the construction and rehabilitation of mosques and Islamic schools in the area.

The lawmaker also said he had procured 22 mobile refuse incinerators, repaired 60 water boreholes and constructed three new ones to boost water supply in the area.

According to him, he had also lobbied the state government to vote about N300 million for the expansion of a dam in the constituency to boost water supply this year.

Yahaya said he had sponsored motions on road construction, security, water supply, dam expansion and establishment of FM radio stations.

“I am the House Committee Chairman on Information and Publicity hence my sponsorship of the motion for the establishment of the state-owned FM radio station to promote information dissemination,” he said.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker said he had provided scholarship to 300 indigent students and helped to secure admission for 50 students in tertiary institutions across the country. (NAN)
