Immediate past governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Saidu Nasamu Dakingari, has escaped from police arrest and traveled to Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj.

Daily Sun gathered that after House of Assembly had issued arrest warrant to the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Ibrahim M. Kabiru, to produce the former governor, pressures have been mounted on him by security agencies in the state any time he was in Birnin-Kebbi for social functions.

While confirming the escape of former Governor Dakingari,  Commissioner of police, Mr. Kabiru, in an interview with Daily Sun, on Tuesday, disclosed that the information reaching him was that he had gone to lesser hajj.

According to the police boss,   “We are seriously looking for him. But the information reaching us now is that he has travelled to Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj. Until he returns, we are waiting for him”.

It would be recalled that the Kebbi State House of Assembly had issued arrest warrant on the former Governor over alleged discrepancies in the award of contracts for the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport project.

The House, at a sitting, unanimously approved that the Speaker, Alhaji Samaila Abdulmumin Kamba, should issue and signed the arrest warrant, compelling the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim M. Kabiru to produce the former Governor.

He had been invited to appear before the house on three occasions but shun their invitations.
