The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kebbi State, Mr Danasabe Lawal Shehu, has advised all motorcyclists and tricyclists in the State to register their motorcycles to reduce security threat posed by unregistered vehicles in the State.

Shehu stated this during a stakeholders meeting with the Executives of ACOMORAN, WAZOBIA and KORAN at the Command’s premises in Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, ‘most of the motorcycles are not registered which constitute security threat and loss of revenue to the State.’

He noted that,many of them were ignorance of traffic laws, openly disregarding the laws by committing offences such as Route Violation, Use of phone while riding, overloading, Speeding and Driving Under Influence (DUI).

He encouraged the Officials of the Transport Unions to get back and educate their members on the dangers of their actions on the road.

Shehu assured the Union Officials of the readiness of the Command to cooperate with them to reduce RTC involving their members.

The State PRO ACOMORAN Musa Umar, in his remarks said most of the motorcycle riders who ride dangerously may not be members of the Union.

The State Chairman KORAN, Mallam Yahaya, said members of their Union have an Identification Number boldly written at the back of the tricycle such as KORAN1334 and they all have identity cards too.

On his part, the State Chairman, ACOMORAN, Nafiu Zaki assured the Sector Commander that all registered members of the Union have identity cards and their motorcycles have stickers which bears the name and logo of the Union.

He however, complained that the unavailability of Vehicle Number plates at the State Board of Internal Revenue has made it difficult for his members to get registered.

The State Chairman WAZOBIA appreciated the Sector Commander for the initiative and said all his members have identity cards but appealed that any infraction of the law by his members should be reported to the Union and such person will be brought to FRSC.
