Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has ordered immediate rehabilitation of dormitories of Government Girls Science College, Argungu, which were taken over by bats.

The governor, who paid an unscheduled visit to the school, discovered that five female hotels in the schools have been occupied by bats popularly known as “Balbali” in local dialects.

While conducting the governor around the school, Principal of the College, Hajia Halima Hassan Kamba, informed the visitor that there was urgent need to repair their dormitories in the school which are now in dilapidated condition.

She noted that five of the girl hostels, which were named as ; Red, Yellow, Orange, Green and Blue hotels have been taken over by bats and had constitute hazards to the students.

The Principal also informed Governor Bagudu that, it was two  customs officers that provided bole hole water, construction of school beds, chairs and desks to the  College stressed that if not because of their assistance, the college lacked of many amenities.

While directing the immediate rehabilitation of the College, Governor Bagudu said his government would dispatch a team to inspect the school to ascertain the level of dilapidated structures with aim of improving the learning and teaching conditions of the College.

The Governor who commended the Principal for her efforts for assisting students said his administration would reward any civil servant who rendered such humanitarian service.

He announced that his government would provide the school with mattresses,internet subscription as part of reward to College and urged other Principals to emulate Hajia Hsssan Kamba efforts in her school.
