The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Magaji Kontogora, has assured both the  National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) and Kebbi State Pate Polytechnic, Dakingari, management and staff, of maximum security in the town.

Kontagora stated this during his visit to the NYSC permanent orientation camp located and polytechnic, both located at Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kebbi State Police Command, Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.

He said: “The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, Ahmed Magaji Kontogora, has assured the NYSC Kebbi State Management, Dakingari, that the state command is committed to ensure adequate security of the corps members during their orientation camping and throughout their service year in the state.

“He gave the assurance on November 15, 2022, when he paid a courtesy visit to the NYSC management at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Dakingari, Suru Local Government Area, where the 2022 Batch C, Stream 1 Orientation Camp is ongoing in Kebbi State.

“The CP on arrival was received by the NYSC Kebbi State Coordinator, Alh. Mustapha Mohammed, all heads of security agencies on camp and heads of various committees. During the visit, the CP explained that he was at the camp to assess the security situation of the orientation camp, as the NYSC Camp is a national structure and must be protected.

“The CP further reiterated that Kebbi State is relatively peaceful, but we still have to collaborate and strategise with other security agencies in the state, to secure the Camp and all corps members serving in the state.

“While addressing the corps members, CP Ahmed  Magaji Kontagora, assured them their security during their stay in Kebbi State, as all security agencies are working together towards attaining peace and security in the state. He emphasised that the important factor in achieving a peaceful environment is the joint efforts of all the security agencies as well as critical stakeholders in the state,” he stated. 

The PPRO also quoted the Commissioner of Police to have called on the corps members to be disciplined and abide by the rules and regulations of the NYSC, as no goal can be achieved without the virtue of discipline.

He added that Mr. Kontagora also paid a similar visit to the Ag. Deputy Rector, State Polytechnic, Dakingari.

In their separate speech, both the NYSC State Coordinator, Alhaji Mustapha Muhammed, and the Ag. Deputy Rector, State Polytechnic, Dakingari,  Malam Sa’idu Aliyu, according to the statement, welcomed the CP with joy and expressed their gratitude to the CP for being the first Commissioner of Police to visit them.

“They added that the visit, indeed, serves as a morale booster to all members of the Camp community and the Polytechnic.

They wished the CP and his entourage a safe trip back to Birnin-Kebbi,” he said.
