Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a site manager for allegedly stealing 83 laptop computers at the ICT JAMB centre in Zuru Local Government Area of the state.

Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr. Ahmed Magaji Kontagora, confirmed this while parading the suspects at the police headquarters, Birnin Kebbi.

He said: “On November 20, 2022, at about 0900hrs, the Manager, Kebna ICT JAMB Centre, Zuru, one Dr. Michael Ezra Dikki, reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Zuru, that on the same date, at about 0830hrs, he visited the centre where he discovered that one Abubakar Ismail, the site manager, had stolen 83 pieces of HP laptops, belonging to the centre, took them to one Chukwudi P. Otutu ‘m’ of Otutu computer centre, Sokoto town, Sokoto State, and sold each one at the cost of N40,000.

“On receipt of the complaint, a team of policemen swung into action and succeeded in arresting the suspect and recovered 76 pieces of the said stolen laptops.

“Investigation is in progress and the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution,” he said.

Kontagora also disclosed that his officers had rescued one Alhaji Adamu from the kidnappers after his residence was invaded in Bagudo town. He also disclosed that his officers were able to repel the kidnappers’ attack at Laga village, Tsamiya Bagudo, alongside the vigilante where one of the kidnappers was shot dead and his AK47 rifle with breach No. LZ09119 was recovered alongside 24 rounds of live ammunition.

“Three empty shells of 7.62mm were also recovered at the scene of the incident. Investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting the fleeing gang members,” he said.
