The Kebbi State Government says it has spent N11 million to vaccinated animals as well as embarked on the vaccination of livestock in selected border Local Governments Areas of the state with a view to prevent the spread of Anthrax from neighboring Benin Republic.
The Deputy Director of Information, Umar Rasheed Gulma who disclosed this, on Tuesday, said that suspected case of Anthrax in the neighboring Benin Republic informed government’s decision vaccinate the animals.
Director of Veterinary service in the Ministry of Animal Health, Dr. Bala Kakale, said that the state government has so far spent the sum of N11 million in the procurement of vaccines.
He explained that about 449,573 cattle and 421,774 sheep were vaccinated in Arewa, Bagudo and Dandi Local Government Areas of the state.
