After about 47 years of abandonment, the Kebbi State Government has budgeted commenced the rehabilitation of Dukku waterworks to the tune of N898.97 million.

The waterworks, situated in Birnin-Kebbi Local Government Area of the state was constructed when the state was still part of Sokoto State.

Speaking during the signing of contract deal with China Zjonghan Brosino Investment Ltd, Commissioner for Water Resources and Rural Development, Arch. Bala Sank Kangiwa, disclosed that the contract involved the repairs of pipes, rehabilitation of water works, and replacement of old water tank.

The Commissioner said that the rehabilitation of the water works, with  4.5 millions gallons capacity of water, was awarded to  China Zhonghan Brosino Investment Ltd after due process and the company defeated other indigenous construction companies that bided for the project.

The contract he said would be completed within 18 months and all the structures of the water works which had decayed, needed serious rehabilitation with replacement of all the channels of supply to the general public.

In his remarks, the Projects Manager of the company, Mr. Wei Yonghan, promised the state government that they would not comprise while executing the project and would be completed within the period scheduled.
