By Gilbert Ekezie

Nze Uwabunkeonye Francis Ekezie, ‘Duru Akuenwebe I,’  of Nkalu Ifakala in Mbaitoli LGA, Imo State, is a youngman who believes that no time is too early for one to pursue and actualize his dream in life. So, he started early enough to get to a great heights, even when those in his age bracket could not tow the path he chose , inorder to make it.

Though,  it was not easy for him, but God gave him the grace to surmount all his challenges, and today, he has the cause to thank God, even though he is still at verge of breaking more hurdles.

As the last child in the family of four, Uwabunkeonye left his parents after his primary education to pursue his own destiny in Lagos State.

He later found his way to abroad, where he stayed for some years before returning to Nigeria because for him, there is no place like home.

On return to Nigeria, he joined a road construction firm as a trained technician.

After many years of experience, he founded his own contracting firm which specializes on road and building construction, supply and general contract.

Early 2022, he deemed it fit to take the Ozor title, “Duru Akuenwebe I of Ifakala,” a colourful and big occasion that was well attended by family, friends , business partners and well-wishers.

The Ozor title , was to a dream come through, and it gave him a good of belonging.

As the culture and tradition demand, Uwabunkeonye decided to celebrate his New yam festival on Sunday, 16th October, 2022.

The festival, which will take place at his palace, Ekezie’s Compound, Umungwo Nkalu Ifakala in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State is aimed thanking God for his grace, guidiance and provisions.

He believes that God is the architect of what he is and has. So, the only thing he owes him is praise and thanksgiving.

According to him, highlights of the ceremony include traditional dances, live bongo music by Kele Bobo, reception of members of Nze na Ozor title holders in the community,  Owu cultural dance, comedy and other side attractions.
