A crack squad of the Imo State Police Command, on Easter Day, shot dead one of the suspected killers of a police inspector, Vincent Umeh attached to Zone 9 command and a Ecobank staff, Enyioma Okwudiri, in Okigwe Local Government Area of the state.

One of the suspected killers, Chimaobi Okorie, met his Waterloo a week   after the kingpin, identified as Amobi, aka, Toosolo, killed himself in Aba, Abia State.

On March 1, 2017, gunmen shot dead Inspector Umeh along Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway and made away with his Toyota Corolla.  They equally attacked and killed Okwudiri and a 38-year-old Nanman Lamak, who hailed from Plateau State.

The rampaging gunmen also shot dead two other persons withdrawing money from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Okigwe before fleeing from the town.

Andrew Enwerem, spokesman of the Imo State Police Command, confirmed the incident.  According to him,  “on seeing our men at the premises of Beghe Guest Inn, in Okigwe, Chimaobi Okorie engaged them in a shootout and attempted to escape through the fence of the hotel, but he was demobilised by the operatives.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment but later died.

Enwerem further disclosed that one double barrel cut-to-size gun, four live cartridges and two expended ammunition exhibits were recovered from the dead armed robber.
