EMMANUEL ADEYEMI, Lokoja

Piqued by the incessant political violence that has led to several losses of lives and property, the Attah Igala and President of KOGI State Traditional Council, Dr Michael, Idakwo Ameh Oboni 11, has pronounced ancestral curses on anyone who sponsors political violence in his domain during and after the elections.

The royal father who addressed newsmen on Saturday in his palace in Idah, the ancestral home of Igala kingdom, was speaking against the backdrop of the violence that marred the presidential and National Assembly elections which led to the cancellation of the National Assembly elections in 2019 polling stations and led to the declaration of the elections inconclusive.

The violence also claimed the life of a 300-level student of the Kogi State University, Ayingba, and scores of others who were killed before the election along with many houses razed

The Attah Igala, who was visibly angry,  expressed dismay at the level of violence during the election and warned against a repeat performance of such violence.

He decreed that anyone who engaged in the assassination in the nine local government areas that make up his domain and their sponsors would be punished by Igala ancestral spirits.

He, therefore, called on parents to call their children and wards to order to avoid incurring the wrath of the Igala ancestral spirit that would be invoked to deal with anyone perpetrating any act of violence in his domain.

The royal father who lamented the spate of violence, describing it as unacceptable and unimaginable in a contest that was supposed to be for brothers, warned that anyone behind the violence would also die by violence.
