The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Rev. Mathew Kukah, has called on Nigerians irrespective of tribe, tongue and race to come together in peace and unity in other to attain Nigeria of our dreams.

He made the statement at the 166 years anniversary of Society of African Missions (SAM), the first group of Catholic priests missionaries that arrived in Lagos, Nigeria.

While describing Nigeria as a great country, Rev. Kukah said, “Nigerians should see their country as one. Whether you are a Yoruba, Igbo Hausa, irrespective of our religious beliefs, we should be one. We should be united. And until we unite and see ourselves as one,  there would always be a problem in Nigeria. But if people can throw out their difference and choose a leader based on potency and not by tribalism or interest, our problem will be solved.”

The two-day programme put together by Society of African Mission Support Group of Catholic Diocese, Lagos, featured various religious programmess including Pontifical Mass.
