The Kwara State Government, on Wednesday, denied the rumours that soldiers were injecting school pupils in Omu-Aran, in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.

In a release signed by the Special Adviser to the state governor on security, Alhaji Amusa Bello, the state government advised members of the public to ignore the rumour, saying neither the Nigerian Army nor any other security agency is currently undertaking a vaccination exercise or any other health campaign in any part of the State.

The state government also called on parents not to panic and to refrain from withdrawing their wards from schools based on this ‘unfounded rumour’.

Daily Sun gathered parents at about 11:15a.m. had rumour that military men are vaccinating their wards in Omu Aran schools in the environment such as Iloffa and other areas.
“On hearing this parents had to rush to the schools such as St Paul Omu Aran to withdraw their children. This led to panic in the towns as some pupils were seen running helter skelter home to avoid been vaccinated.
This at the end was later discovered to be rumour which nobody yet to know the source.”
The schools have been since deserted by both pupils and teachers.
This prompted the state government to go on air to assure residents and to disabused the mind of the parents on the ugly rumour.
