Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari has won in 15 local government areas (LGAs)of Lagos State, while his opponent,  Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), won in five councils.

Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Abeokuta, Prof. Felix Kolawole Salako, who was the chief collation officer, supervised the announcement of results by collation officers at excatly 10.15pm; at the collation centre at the Independent and National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Yaba, Lagos, yesterday.

The results showed that the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola lost his Surulere LGA to Atiku, while former minister of Defence, Musliu Obanikoro lost his Eti-osa LGA.

Prof. Salako announced that the total votes cast in the election was 1,156, 590, valid votes were 1,089,567 and rejected votes were 67, 023.

Out of the total votes cast, Buhari polled 580,825 votes, while Abubakar got 448,015; giving a margin of 132,798 between them. The difference between Buhari and Atiku’s votes in Lagos is 132,810.
