Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has approved Lagos State Government’s request to reconstruct the International Airport Road from Oshodi.
In a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tunji Bello, yesterday, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode commended the acting president for his statesman-like approach to issues and for fast tracking the process.
“We are very appreciative of the good gesture of the acting president for acceding to our request which is not only timely but a very heartwarming one. Posterity will never forget this genuine developmental action,” Ambode said.
He also described the approval as a 50th birthday gift to the people of Lagos State, and said it is a demonstration of the determination of the current administration to ensure effectiveness of the executive order on improving the ease of doing business recently signed by the acting president.
Ambode also gave kudos to President Muhammadu Buhari for providing enabling environment to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the nation, adding that with the upgrading of the International Airport Road which is the gateway to the nation’s commercial nerve centre, the country will attract new investments.
The governor had, in early March this year, raised alarm about the present state of the Muritala Muhammed International Airport Road, when he described it as a national disgrace which required immediate attention to salvage the nation’s image. He said, then, that the state had already got a design for the reconstruction of the road as well as the funds to embark on the project but was yet to get the go ahead from the Federal Government.
and when abuja airport was shut down for a face-lift they never knew nor remember that mmia road was ‘a national disgrace’.you see, issues like this lend support to the clamour for restructuring of your Nigeria.roads will become death traps, especially in the southeast and southsouth, and abandoned because they are tagged federal roads.the states must seek permission to repair the roads and save their people.airports, especially in these same regions, will be in poor state and less international.no,the states must seek permission to fix them or must wait until the federal government is disposed.meanwhile the chunk of revenue accruing to the so called federal government is generated from these two zones and their indegenes.apart from oil revenue other forms of revenue whether firs, vat, whtax, custom and any other enjoy immense contributions from the business ingenuity of the people of these two zones.indeed, the true restructuring would start with a comprehensive review(including the annexes and schedules) of the garbage called your constitution.
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MUST IMPLEMENT CONFAB TO MOVE NATION FORWARD, GIVE MORE OPTIONS TO STATE FOR DEVMT
