As part of effort to ensure unity in Lagos markets as well as promote sports, the National Grand Patron Unity Cup organised by Ndigboamaka Progressive Markets Association will.kick off tomorrow at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The Unity Cup is sponsored by business mogul, politician and sports enthusiast, Prof Obiora Okonkwo, who is chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, one of the top airlines in the country. It will run every weekend from tomorrow to November 19, 2022.

Accoding to Chief Chinedu Ukatu of Ndigboamaka, the Lagos State governor,  Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will perform the kick-off ceremony of the football event, with Prof Okonkwo will be special guest of honour.

He said all affiliate market associations under the umbrella  of Ndigboamaka will participate in a match past, with the 16 teams trading tackle for the coveted cup appearing in their jersies.

Ukatu said after the opening ceremony,  the team of Mandilas International Trade Centre, Trade Fair Complex will engage the team of Association of Fashion Wear Dealers in the firstatch of the tournament.

Same day, Ukatu said, the team of Balogun Business Association (BBA), Trade Fair Complex will trade tackles with African Tyre Village, in the second match.

The winning team, he said, will go home with a cup and gold medals for teamsters.

The Ndigboamaka chief said the tournament will run every year.
