The recently elected officials of the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) have listed the establishment of mechanic villages and fostering of a cordial relationship with the state government, among the goals they wish to pursue in the next four years.
Speaking on behalf of the 17-man executive at the swearing in ceremony held in Mushin, the Chairman, Mr. Julius Lawal, called on the Lagos State Government to provide more mechanic villages for its members, saying that this would enable them discharge their duties professionally and pay appropriate taxes.
Lawal assured members that the new leadership would take the welfare of members top priority, just as he promised to form a cordial relationship with the government in the state in order to improve the performance of his members.
Lawal further sought for the support of members in the state, stressing that constructive criticism would be encouraged by the new executives.
He also promised to ensure that members of the association are adequately trained in order to improve their technical know-how in handling newly manufactured vehicles on the Nigerian roads.
Lawal commended the immediate past executives in the state for moving it forward, but maintained that a lot still needed to be done especially the construction of a befitting secretariat to NATA in Lagos.
He said: “I also want to advise my members to be law abiding and pay their taxes regularly to the coffers of the State Government in order to support the government. We will also ensure quality training for our members in the state. as I am talking to you now, some our members are now in OANDO Plc undergoing training in their facilities.”
Delivering a paper at the occasion, the Head, Business Development and Strategy, Mecofinder, Mr. Olu Omoyeni, said that the company would continue to collaborate with auto mechanics in the state and the country at large.
