The Lagos State Police Command has appointment another female as the new Traffic Officer (MOTOPOL).

Chief Superintendent of Police Titilayo Oriyomi Oluwasanmi, the former Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ilasamaja, Lagos State, took over from CSP Margaret Okonkwo, who was removed amid controversy.

CSP Oriyomi, while at Lion Building, Area ‘A’ Command, Lagos, was in charge of the traffic section, where she performed exceptionally in traffic duties. She won several awards on the beat, including the prestigious Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) award, Security Watch Africa award and many others.

As the DPO of Ilassamaja, Oriyomi did exploits in crime fighting. She arrested the kingpins of different cult groups, armed robbery and kidnapping gangs and put many hoodlums behind bars. She brought sanity to her area of jurisdiction.

With her sterling performance as a DPO, former Lagos State Commissioner of  Police Edgal Imohimi, who described her as a workaholic, said he had faith in Oriyomi, who worked with him while he was the area commander in charge of Area ‘A’, Lion Building.

Oriyomi, who has resumed duty as the new MOTOPOL, has pledged to bring her wealth of experience to the traffic section. Last Tuesday, she was seen midnight controlling traffic at an accident scene, opposite Juli Pharmacy, Ikeja, Lagos.

With her work ethics, Oriyomi has put traffic personnel under her on their toes.

She was quoted as warning her subordinates that “the era of extortion is over. You don’t arrest always; sometimes you correct offenders. You have to police with the fear of God and a human face. I will not hesitate to deal with anyone found tarnishing the image of the unit. I also want to advise you to always dress properly and look clean.”
