The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP, Fatai Owoseni has summoned the policeman, Inspector Festus, aka Ijaya, who a suspected robber, Akeem Popoola, said he worked for as partner in crime.
The Punch had reported that the 21-year-old suspect on Monday confessed that he had worked for Inspector Festus who used him to swindle unsuspecting victims for about four months before he was arrested for robbery and burglary.

Popoola who hails from Oke Ona, Ogun state is currently in police custody at the Agbado Police Division, Ogun State.

The suspect who worked as a carpenter confessed that apart from burglary, he was also involved in the sale of stolen phones after collecting them from the Inspector attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja.

Following his confession, the Command confirmed that the inspector’s full name is Festus Omotosho, adding that investigation had commenced into the allegation raised against him by the suspect.

According to the CP, “Omotosho, is attached to the command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

“He would be sanctioned accordingly if found culpable of the allegation.”

The spokesperson of the Command, SP Dolapo Badmos, also reinstated that the force would prosecute the inspector if he is found guilty.

She said, “Our officers are not identified by alias.

“The officer, Inspector Festus Omotosho, has been summoned by the CP and investigation has commenced into the issue as raised by the report.

“Be assured that if he is in any way culpable, the command will sanction him; and if it is evident that he has perpetrated any criminality, the leadership of the force will ensure that he is prosecuted on conclusion of investigations,” Badmos added.
