She is the daughter of the chairman, Doyin Group of Companies, Samuel Adedoyin, a famous Nigerian industrialist and entrepreneur.

A sister to the lawmaker, Mrs. Omolola Olobayo who confirmed the death of her sister on the telephone to our correspondent is a former Chairman of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Kwara and Kogi chapter. She said her sister died in an Abuja hospital after returning from treatment abroad.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara expressed shock over her death.

In a statement yesterday night, Dogara condoled with the people and government of Kwara State over the death of the lawmaker.

He said: “the news of the death of Hon. Princess Funke Adedoyin came as a great shock. She was a vibrant lawmaker and dedicated public servant.

“We in the House of Representatives pray that God grants her family, constituents and the people and government of Kwara State the fortitude to bear the loss.”

One of her colleagues at the Green chamber from Kwara, Razaq Atunwa also mourned her thus: “This is a big loss to me, I am feeling a personal loss right now.”

Her death which occurred Friday afternoon was said to have resulted from cancer complications which she has been battling since 2016.

She was said to have been cured of the disease but suffered a relapse three months ago which led to her traveling to the United States.

She had since returned to the country and was recuperating in Abuja until her death.

Saturday Sun gathered that in spite of her health challenges before her demise, she was committed to her legislative duties, especially at the Committee level.

Her last known major legislative assignment was during the defence of the 2018 budget estimates of the Nigerian Army. Adedoyin was the Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Army and headed a sub committee which undertook a tour of military barracks in the country.

It was gathered that the late lawmaker during the tour of the barracks had complained bitterly about the state of Army barracks across the country and called for urgent measures to address the situation.

The deceased was elected into the Green Chamber in 2015 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC),

However, she was among lawmakers, who dumped the ruling party for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), shortly before the National Assembly went on recess in July this year.

She had served as Minister of State for Health during the tenure of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
