Rotimi Williams Olatunji, Acting Dean, Lagos State University School of Communication has been elevated to the enviable status of Professor of Public Relations and Advertising of the university by the Governing Council of Lagos State University.
Olatunji who received his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree (Communication Arts) (2003),  Master of Arts, Communication Arts, 1991, from the University of Ibadan, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree (First Class Honours) (Archaeology), from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, 1989, also attended Oyo State College of Education, (now Osun State College of Education), Ila-Orangun, Nigeria (1979-1982), where he obtained his Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE).
Before his present elevation, he had, at different times, served in various academic capacities, beginning his appointment as Assistant Lecturer, (2001) Department of Public Relations and Advertising, School of Communication, Lagos State University; Lecturer II (2004); Lecturer I (2008); Senior Lecturer (2009); Associate Professor (2011).
He was officially pronounced Professor at the 111st statutory meeting of the university Governing Council held in May. With that he becomes the third Professor of Communication Studies in the Lagos State University, School of Communication, Profs. Idowu Sobowale, and Lai Oso, being the pioneer professors of the school in that order. He won the LASU/Ford Foundation Award (in Junior category) for the writing of PhD Post-field report in August 2002.
He had served in various administrative capacities, namely, Acting Dean School of Communication, Lagos State University; three-time Acting Head, Department of Public Relations and Advertising, Sub-Dean, School of Communication; Programme Coordinator, LASU External System; Pioneer Post-Graduate Programme Coordinator, LASUSOC.
He has also served in various Committees of Senate of LASU, including, member, Curriculum Committee of Senate; member, Business Committee of Senate; Ad-Hoc Committee member Investigating conducts of PhD Law degree Programme of Faculty of Law, LASU; member, LASU Re-branding Committee; and member, Quality Assurance Implementation Committee of LASU, where he also serves as Editor, LASU Quality Assurance Newsletter; member, Committee of Provosts, Deans and Directors (COPDD); Appointment and Promotions Committee; and several committees of Senate and pioneer Acting Chairman LASU Radio (95.7 FM) Implementation Committee and member, University Ceremonies Committee (serving as Convener, Press and Publicity Sub-Committee).
