Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) recently beat 33 other Medical Students Associations from ten African countries to win the maiden edition of African Inter-Medical Students’ Association (MSA) Quiz Competition.

LASUCOM, which was represented by four students; Joshua Oyelowo, Ibrahim Kamson, Osunsanmi Olugbemi and Sangosanya Oluwagbotemi, who led the team, were awarded with a cash prize of $150 for emerging winners while each of the outstanding students got automatic one year premium access to Lecturio. 

The MSA quiz competition, organized by FAMSA SCOMER in partnership with Lecturio covered Clinical, Pre-Clinical, Mathematics, Logics, and General Knowledge.

The President of the LASU Medical Students’ Association (LASUMSA), Moshood Habeeb, led a delegation of nine students, comprising executives of the body and winners of the MSA competition to the VC’s office to present their award to the university’s chief executive and intimate her of other proposed activities of the body.

Habeeb informed the VC and the university management that LASUMSA would also be playing host to the Nigeria Medical Students’ Association (NIMSA) General Assembly scheduled to hold later this year. 

The VC, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, expressed her delight to receiving the students and congratulated them on winning the MSA competition. 

She added: “You have done us proud. Congratulations to you. We will support you to host the General Assembly and I believe you will continue to do us proud. I am glad to know that beyond academics, you are also excelling in other areas.”
