A lawyer and member of the Abia State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Ojebe Ojebe, has berated what he termed “chaotic, vitriolic, and unprofessional media trial” by Nnamdi U Nwokocha Ahaaiwe, on behalf of allegedly aggrieved members of the party in the state.

In a statement entitled: ‘Re Controversial Abia judge, Anyadike, risks sack, Ahaaiwe is either a scare monger or a quack”, he noted that the petition filed by Ahaaiwe against Justice Evelyn Anyadike of the High Court Umuahia is “a product of scare mongering or quackery, which should be dismissed without further consideration.”

He described the story published in Daily Sun of September 15, 2022, with headline ‘Controversial Abia judge, Anyadike risks sack’ as “a product of scare mongering or quackery” and urged that the petition against Justice Anyadike be dismissed without further consideration.

Ojebe noted that the media trial against Justice Anyadike violated the directives of the legal profession, even as he accused Ahaaiwe of engaging in ‘Forum Shopping’.

The statement read in part, “Any discerning lawyer that reviews your chaotic, vitriolic, and unprofessional media trial of your cases would be shocked. It is against professional ethics and a bad example for the legal profession. Your vile vituperation has no restriction on subject and persons, and so, when your victim is a judge, you glory in the fact that he cannot defend himself in the media.

“In the tirade, you callously maligned Hon. Justice Anyadike and the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court. You gave the impression that your frivolous case is being delayed, so it will expire. Before you digest the filthy fees your offensive diatribe will attract from your conned clients, I consider it necessary to set the records straight.

“After assuring your clients that you are very close to Federal High Court Judges, you filed Suit No FHC/ABJ/CS/628/2022 in Federal High Court, Abuja on 10/05/2022. Contrary to the Federal High Court practice directions that cases should be filed in the Divisions of the Federal High Court where they arose. This was a clear case of Forum Shopping, contrary to the directives of the profession against obnoxious practise.

When the Federal High Court transferred it to Umuahia, where it should have been filed, you took offence; you attempted to cure the frivolity of the case by bringing an application to join two other persons. The judge you are now destroying granted that application on 12/6/2022. You were directed to amend your processes to reflect the names of those joined. You know your failure to comply will cause an adjournment and start to cry wolf.”
