The current leadership crisis rocking Arewa community in Lagos State as polarized it into factions, while some members were already calling for the sack of the state Commissioner for Waterfront and Infrastructure Development, Kabiru Ahmed Abdullahi.
Abdullahi is the only Hausa in state  Executive Council led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu but some members of the community in the state who were calling for his sack accused him of intolerance, selfishness, greediness, arrogance and failure to promote and protect interest of his kinsmen.
The agitation for the sack of Abdullahi became public discussion during week, with two different protests being staged at the State House of Assembly, while a faction is calling for his sack , the other is pledging their support for the commissioner.
The protest at the State House of Assembly, was as a result of  demand by  lawmakers, asking  the House to pass a vote of no confidence on the commissioner and withdraw his confirmation after he failed to honour their invites.
The lawmakers were members of the committee probing activities of the commissioner and his ministry.
On protesters calling for the sack of the commissioner, they lamented the failure of Abdullahi to carry the group along despite ‘parading’ himself as the chairman of Arewa Community  in All Progressive Congress (APC), Lagos State chapter for 15 years.
They urged the speaker of the House to remove the commissioner and replace him with another “Arewa person who can harmonise Arewa and carry everyone along.”
However, another faction who were loyal to the commissioner, accused the people calling for the sack of the commissioner of being member Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and traitors.
The Secretary of Arewa community, Kudu Abubakar in an interview, said the leadership crisis rocking the association was caused by  the commissioner due to his alleged leadership failure.
He alleged that attitude of the commissioner towards the members of the community, was what caused the agitation for his sack.
Abubakar said none of the people calling for  the commissioner’s sack  belong to PDP but are members of APC.
