Popular Abuja-based actress and star of ‘Drift Beyond Conscience’, Salma Aminu has sensationally declared that the issue of lesbianism in Nollywood is exaggerated.

In a chat with TS Weekend, the actress bared her mind on rumours of a lesbian clique running Nollywood. She said: “Lesbians are everywhere and not just in the movie industry, so I will say it is outrageous picking on Nollywood. I feel this lesbianism thing is just being exaggerated. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying they are not in the industry but it has been over blown and over flogged.”

Has the actress been approached by a lesbian before? “No, the answer is no,” she responded.

Aminu is currently working on two new projects, which she says will redefine Nollywood and set the pace for 2017 and beyond. “I’m working on two projects at a stretch but the first is the movie entitled, ‘Traits’. ‘Traits’ is my story but Smart Conrad did the screenplay. It is a must watch because it is educative and sensitises people on the dangers of using hard drugs and how to handle meningitis. The project is still cooking; it is 90 percent ready.

“The second project is starting immediately I am done with ‘Traits’. I am working with the best hands. Pascal Amanfo is directing. He did justice to the story, he brought his creativity to play on this project and I’m grateful to him. And my associate producer is Vincent Opurum, he drained his energy on this job.”

The movie features Ray Emodi, Vincent Opurum, Belinda Effah, Kelechi Udegbe, Lola Alao, Kayode Aiyegbusi and of course, Salma Aminu.
