The Kam-Caritas Foundation recently held its third edition of the Kam Caritas Cup tournament for the socially deprived and less privileged children in the society, with Little Saints Orphanage Home emerging winners of the championship.

The event, which took place at the  Onikan Stadium Lagos, saw 11 Orphanage homes participating.

Some of the Orphanages which participated in this year’s edition include Little Saints Orphanage, Arrows of GOD Orphanage, Sought After, Mayom, Heritage, Precious Pearl, Optimal and Vigilant Heart. Little Saints won the football gold by defeating Mayom 2-1 on penalties while the Pink Team emerged victorious in the girls footage category.

Other events competed for were Lime and Spoon and Sack races.

For the third year running, KAM-Caritas Foundation brought the kids in Lagos Orphanages and homes together for their annual sports festival at Onikan Stadium.

The Foundation which was founded out of the desire to develop football talents in young socially deprived and less privileged children by giving their lives meaning through sports is the brainchild of 19-year-old Kamsi Alex Mojo-Eyes.

Speaking to Sporting Sun, founder of the foundation, Kamsi MojoEyes explained that he decided to organise the event as a way of discovering the talents in these unlooked after children who daily crave for attention and care.

“When I was young my mother used to take me to Orphage Homes and that was how i developed interest in them.”

The Hungry-based footballer cum basketball player said he was happy for the large turnout, even as he promised to make it better next year.

The Coordinator of Association of Orphanages (ASOHON) and founder of Vigilant Heart Orphanage, Mrs Maria Iriowen Osawemen, who was highly elated patted Kamsi on the back for coming up with such idea, adding that it is fantastic.

“its exciting, it is a new era into humanity. For a young man to think of the less privileged is something we all must emulate. The event has improved with more vigour and organised. Governments at all levels should support this man who is into humanity”, she concluded.

Sports dignitaries, philanthropists and representatives of foreign embassies graced the occasion.
