Royal Excel Mouscron of Belgium’s in-form striker, Taiwo Awoniyi has received an increase in valuation, as his parent club, Liverpool is now ready to sell him for £12.9m this summer.
Although The Reds were also keen on keeping Awoniyi on their cards for the future, which could portend yet another loan deal for him next season, sports247.ng learnt the English Premier League club would be ready to cash in on the striker’s current form.
Should that be the case, Awoniyi’s suitors, who were said to be led at the moment by Schalke 04 of Germany, will have to cough out £12.9m for the UAE 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist.
However, with another Germany club, SV Mainz 05, also said to be interested in the 21-year-old striker, who had scored six goals in seven matches this year alone, and had been named to team of the week for the past six match-days, Liverpool could up its asking price to £13m.
Before returning to top form on his return to Mouscron, Awoniyi, who played on loan at SV Frankfurt of Germany and NEC Nijmegen of Holland, failed to make top marks with another Belgian club, KAA Gent in the first half of the current season.
Awoniyi was now attracting attention from Schalke, who have the fourth weakest attack in the German Bundesliga, which they believed would change if they hook the Nigerian youngster, who signed a long-term contract with Liverpool before moving to Mousrcon in January.
