• As club unleashes Kanu’s boy on 3SC

THE League Management Company (LMC) has given a pat on the back to Akwa United for being the first club to complete her mid season registra­tion formalities.

LMC’s Chief Operat­ing Officer (COO), Salihu Abubakar had after cap­turing the licenses of the new Akwa United players in Abuja on Friday com­mended the club for being up to date in the payment of the salaries of their coaches and players.

It would be noted that an important criteria used for the mid season regis­tration included proof of payment of players salary up to the month of March, non owing of bonuses and other allowances. Players of the club are to sign at­testation confirming same.

Akwa United boss, Paul Bassey who appreciated the kind words said about him and the club by the LMC buff paid glowing tribute to the football loving Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Udom Em­manuel for his massive support to Akwa United.

“ I thank his Excel­lency for his support both financially and otherwise. I also thank my commis­sioner Monday Uko for standing by me. The only way we can reward them is by returning to Africa,” the respected FIFA and CAF man said.

Bassey disclosed that one of the new signings the club would parade in today’s game against 3SC away in Ibadan is FC Papillo’s hitman Micheal Ikpe. Papillo is the pet club of former Super Eagles striker Kanu Nwankwo.

Others are Alhassan Dosso, Julius Gideon, Hassan Babangida, Amaechi Orji and Fortune Omoniwari erstwhile Heartland FC prolific attacker.
